Greenhouse gas emissions for reservoirs

Australia wide 2024 - Current

Freshwater systems emit substantial volumes of greenhouse gases, particularly methane, and therefore contribute meaningfully to global emissions. To better understand these dynamics, Fluvio has completed detailed assessments of greenhouse gas emissions associated with extensive flooded land assets.

These assessments were conducted using IPCC Tier 1 and Tier 2 methodologies. In addition, Fluvio undertook targeted work to improve understanding of methane emissions from run‑of‑river systems, with a focus on developing field‑based verification approaches for monitoring degassing pathways and downstream emissions.

Through delivering multiple greenhouse gas assessments of flooded land, Fluvio has demonstrated strong expertise in quantifying methane emissions and applying globally recognised assessment frameworks.
