Next generation autonomous water monitoring systems

Queensland, Australia 2024 - Current

Fluvio has secured an Advance Queensland grant to refine its computer vision stream gauging system (CVSG) to become a commercially available product. This project will refine the existing camera prototype to establish a cost-effective method for measuring water flows and velocity. This significantly improves the quantity of data collected and reduces safety risks associated with traditional methods for gauging flow events.

The CVSG system will ensure that water resources can better managed and tracked through local waterways, providing policy makers with the information they require to track and manage water resources within their catchments.

Key milestones in the project include validation of the system across a broad range of waterways in Queensland with targeted deployments, as well as developing a real-time water quality loads monitoring system. The project will be supported by a user-friendly cloud-based archive system for operational personnel to access configuration, archived imagery and data analytics.

The scope of works include:

  • Validate the system across a broad range of waterways in Queensland through targeted deployments with project partners
  • Develop a user-friendly cloud-based archive system for operational personnel to access configuration, archived imagery and data analytics
  • Develop standard operating procedures for deployment and maintenance to mitigate health and safety risks for field staff.
